Internships
Zest4Kidz is a small charity dreaming big things. If you’re offered an internship with Zest4Kidz you can be guaranteed you won’t be making coffee runs or executing menial tasks. Rather, you will be gaining valuable experience while helping Zest4Kidz to fight injustice, love as family and empower children in tangible ways! These internships aren’t for the faint hearted but then again, neither is the work that we do.
Communications Intern
As a Communications Intern, you’ll actively engage, support and encourage our outside community, from donors to fundraisers to volunteers to strangers looking to learn more about Zest4Kidz. You’ll have a hand in helping us manage our donor relations, research and special events. You’ll also work directly with Matt, our Operations Manager and Paula, our PR Manager, to support office operations and fundraising events. You’ll occasionally get the chance to help in our creative department when they need your help and input on thanking Zest4Kidz supporters and brainstorming new fundraising campaigns.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to email requests coming into info@zest4kidz.com
- Help us support individual fundraisers, many of whom are fundraising for overseas trips. Offer ideas, respond to questions about our guidelines, and provide info and resources.
- Input data on donors into our CRM database.
- Assist in running our volunteer program by brainstorming new initiatives.
- Come up with and execute ideas to thank fundraisers and donors.
- Handle admin and customer service tasks like answering phones.
- Help create press releases and communicate with Irish media outlets.
- Research prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors.
- Research prospective matching gifts programs.
- Stay on top of communication about donation issues, tax receipts and tax-back initiatives.
Skills:
You’re a people person: You enjoy helping and talking to new people. You love making people feel special.
You’re a mover and a shaker: You’re eager to learn and inspired to change the world. You’re committed to Zest4Kidz’s mission fighting injustice, loving as family & empowering children.
You’re articulate, direct and professional: You’re more than capable of providing information concisely and effectively to everyone reaching out to Zest4Kidz for help. You make sure you know the situation or data inside and out before communicating it to donors or staff.
You ask questions: You don’t assume. You’re not afraid to say you don’t know or to ask for help. You see critique as a good thing and hope to learn from it.
You have the basics down pat: You’re a positive person. Your upbeat attitude can help Zest4Kidz bring light to everyone who interacts with us and also help the office run smoothly.
You’re independent and self-motivated: You’re confident and capable of representing Zest4Kidz. You can handle a bunch of tasks without constant supervision. You see something wrong and you initiate the best action to fix it. You recognize a way to make something more efficient and go for it!
You are creative and unique.
Our Operations Manager is always looking for new ways to inspire and motivate our staff, donors, volunteers and fundraisers. You have ideas that fit within the Zest4Kidz ethos and you’re on fire to help our charity implement them.
Commitment:

Design & Social Media Intern
As a Design & Social Media Intern, you’ll jump on with our small Creative Team to help us keep our brand bold and consistent. You’ll channel all your artistic energy into brainstorming, designing and assembling print & web materials. You’ll own a lot of immediate, day-to-day design projects. You’ll help us communicate clearly and aesthetically. You’ll help brainstorm & develop social media campaigns on Facebook & Twitter and will be seeing a lot of Matt, our Operations guy, and Paula, our PR specialist. Basically, we promise you’ll be busy.
Responsibilities.
- Assemble promotional materials for everyone from donors to strangers to guests at our events.
- Layout Zest4Kidz beauty on paper (and sometimes on the web).
- Create compelling images for our website, blog and print materials.
- Challenge conventional charity-sector thought with new design and social media communication ideas.
Skills.
You work as well with your hands as you do with your head: You can cut, paste, bind, score, fold, trim and tape. You’re precise and articulate, whether you’re creating mock ups to show around the office or final products to give our high-level donors.
You know the devil is in the details: You put care into every little thing you do. You carefully check over all your work before it goes out.
You’re assertive and you’re a team player: You speak up when you have an idea or opinion of your own but you also know the power of a group’s effort on a creative project.
Your a multitasking machine: You organize your work so you can handle a wide range of small projects at the same time without overlooking anything.
If you were working in a forest… you’d still be working: You tackle your work without constant supervision. You relish the chance to own projects and you’re confident that the end result will speak for itself.
You’re a whiz with the best tools to get the job done: You know Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign and Dreamweaver better than you know the back of your hand. And basic HTML never hurt anybody…
You have a computer: Like I said, we’re small. All our macs are busy.
Commitment.
